Die Stiftung will einen repräsentativen Teil des künstlerischen Werkes von Jean Tinguely, als Zeugnis der europäischen Kunst- und Kulturgeschichte, dauernd erhalten und der Allgemeinheit zugänglich machen. Sie ermöglicht die wissenschaftliche Bearbeitung des Stiftungsgutes und stellt es für die Forschung zur Verfügung.
