L'associazione è volta a promuovere e diffondere nel mondo il tiro di campagna con l'arco e qualsiasi altro evento sportivo arcieristico e attività ricreativa collegata. Ulteriori dettagli sul suo scopo sono definiti nell'Articolo 2 del Regolamento Organico Generale (General By-Laws). Inoltre, il Preambolo della Raccolta dei Regolamenti dell'IFAA (Book of Rules) contiene la Dichiarazione della Missione dell'Associazione, che non potrà mai essere modificata o emendata.
